Who are you?
What do you enjoy?
Do you love yourself?
What makes you laugh?
What places would you like to visit?
What is really important to you and why?
What were your goals and dreams as a child?
What are your values and why are they important to you?
When was the last time you spent time finding out about self?
What are your goals and dreams now and how important are they to you?
Ok so it's date night. You got all dressed up, dinner is cooked, spouse and kids are taken care of and then you leave. If you're a single mom and you have every other weekend or have a babysitter, then yes, you leave. You leave the house alone dating the one and only you. You are kinda impressed, but not sure exactly what you want so you're taking yourself out to get to know you a little better. You found the coolest place to just sit and talk. You grab your Ipad, yellow pad (depending on the era in which you were born :) and you begin to ask yourself questions. You start out with this funky feeling of regret, however you quickly realize that the purpose of getting to know who you are isn't to drudge up feelings of inadequacy, regret, self judgement, but to ignite love, inner strength, creativity, purposeful self dialogue, positive change, truth and fun from within. I'm always reading those gosh darn self help books, so this quest to reconnect with self has been quite amusing at times as well as deeply awakening. I find it necessary to be alone at times just to speak to me and find out what I'm all about. It's interesting, enlightening and very necessary. I realize so many great things about myself and I'm allowed to give back to others once I've given to self. It's important as we travel this road of being mom and all things else, to take time and reconnect, love, encourage, show kindness toward self. :) I.M.
